Three men were shot and killed in separate shootings that happened over the weekend in south Minneapolis.
On Friday, 37-year-old Justin Adams Marshall was killed near Franklin and Lyndale Avenues. Police officers found him at around 2:30 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at a hospital.
The suspected shooter fled the scene. As of Sunday, police had not made any arrests. According to law enforcement, Marshall was talking to a man in a vehicle when the man got out of the car and shot him several times.
Marshall was known to his friends and family as “Juice.”
“Juice was to me da best damn son in da world, respectful to everyone and anyone he met,” wrote his father, Adam Marshall, in a Facebook post.
A second man was shot shortly after midnight on Saturday in the East Phillips neighborhood. Police say 27-year-old Michael Alfred Johnson got into a verbal argument with someone that later escalated into gunfire.
Officers found Johnson near 24th Street East and 18th Avenue South with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. He later died at a hospital.
Police are still looking for the alleged shooter.
“Gun violence has claimed another life, devastated another family, and further traumatized a community,” said Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara. “Anyone with information about this tragedy is urged to come forward as we work to understand what happened and identify ways to prevent further violence.”
A third shooting on Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a man in his 40s who has not yet been publicly identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The man was found at the 3000 block of Grand Avenue South with a gunshot wound. Hours later, the suspected shooter was arrested.
All three shootings are under police investigation.
