The General Services Administration and Google have reached an agreement covering the availability of the tech giant’s Gemini chatbot across government, a move both sides tout as providing a “comprehensive AI solution for federal agencies.”
Google will provide a “Gemini for Government” offering, along with its related artificial intelligence and cloud services, at a price of $0.47 per agency. This pact announced Thursday is separate to the April unveiling of steep discounts pertaining to Google’s Workspace software suite for cloud-based productivity tools.
Under the Gemini agreement, Google will be responsible for incorporating enterprise search and multimedia generation capabilities into the overall offering. Agencies also will have access to an AI-enabled notebook tool, pre-packaged AI agents, and the ability for civilian employees to create their own virtual assistants.
Both the Gemini and Workspace agreements fall under OneGov, an initiative GSA unveiled in the spring to centralize how agencies acquire consumer and enterprise software. Gemini is available via GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule for acquiring commercial items at pre-negotiated pricing, as are Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT offerings.
“Federal agencies can now significantly transform their operations by using the tools in ‘Gemini for Government’, thanks to this agreement with Google and the Trump administration’s leadership revolutionizing AI for the U.S. government,” GSA’s acting administrator Michael Rigas said in a release. “GSA is dedicated to rapidly achieving President Trump’s goals to accelerate AI adoption across government and this agreement with Google is the latest success in meeting that goal.”
Many of those goals are laid out in America’s AI Action Plan, a blueprint the Trump administration unveiled in July focused on positioning the U.S. as the world’s leader in AI.
“GSA is delivering on the President’s AI Action Plan and helping agencies access powerful American AI tools to optimize daily workflows and create a more efficient, responsive, and effective government for American taxpayers,” said Josh Gruenbaum, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service. “This offering will provide partner agencies with vital flexibility in GSA’s marketplace, ensuring they have the options needed to sustain a strong and resilient procurement ecosystem.”
For Google, the Gemini pact is the latest foray in the tech giant’s push to build its government business and get greater reach for Workspace and other cloud-based offerings.

“Building on our Workspace offer for federal employees, Gemini for Government gives federal agencies access to our full stack approach to AI innovation, including tools like NotebookLM and Veo powered by our latest models and our secure cloud infrastructure, so they can deliver on their important missions,” added Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and its Alphabet parent.
