A tribal nation has purchased the naming rights to a new amphitheater currently under construction in Shakopee, just south of the Twin Cities.
Live Nation announced this week that the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community has purchased the naming rights to its new 19,000-seat outdoor music venue.
“Minnesota has long been a powerhouse music market, and Mystic Lake Amphitheater will bring even more world-class performances to fans across the region,” said Josh Lacey, Minnesota market president at Live Nation.
Mystic Lake Amphitheater is expected to open in the summer of 2026.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community owns the nearby casino and hotel by the same name. The amphitheater is located five miles north of the gaming complex.
“This venue and our collaboration marks an exciting time in the SMSC and Mystic Lake’s long-standing commitment to the broader community and to the entertainment and hospitality experiences that we deliver for our guests,” said Angela Heikes, president and CEO of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Gaming Enterprise, which operates Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
Live Nation Entertainment said they expect the amphitheater project to contribute more than $70 million to the local economy and create an estimated 700 new jobs.
Live Nation Entertainment, the parent company of Ticketmaster, is a multinational entertainment company known for live music events.
The venue will welcome national headliners, international performers, local and regional talent, according to a spokesperson for Live Nation Entertainment.
