Watch: St. Paul mayoral candidate forum

This year’s election is on Nov. 4, 2025 and uses ranked-choice voting. The field includes incumbent Mayor Melvin Carter, State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her, Mike Hilborn, Yan Chen and Adam Dullinger.

Carter is seeking a third term and recently outlined a budget proposal that spotlights public safety and city finances — topics likely to surface tonight. Her, who represents parts of St. Paul in the Minnesota House, announced her challenge in August.

The forum is organized by the nonpartisan LWV St. Paul and will be available to watch online after the event.

St. Paul elects mayors to four-year terms; this will be the last off-year city election before the shift to even-year cycles in 2028.

Early in-person voting begins this Friday, Sept. 19.
