Reading women’s forward Keren Banduka has been discharged from hospital after collapsing on the pitch during a league match on Sunday.
The club shared a “positive update” on Monday, saying Banduka is “now at home recovering”.
The incident happened at Arbour Park during Sunday’s Southern Premier Division match against Southampton in the fifth tier of English women’s football.
Southampton were 1-0 up when Banduka collapsed and players returned to the dressing rooms in the 35th minute.
The match was abandoned shortly afterwards while paramedics attended to Banduka before she was taken to hospital.
“Following a thorough assessment, she has been discharged and is now at home recovering,” Reading said on Monday.
“We would like to thank the medical staff from both clubs and the responding paramedics for their immediate and professional attention.”
It was Reading’s final match of 2025 and it is unclear whether the game will be replayed.
Reading were relegated from the Women’s Super League (WSL) in 2023, and in 2024 dropped to the fifth tier because of financial difficulties.
