Republic of Ireland squad: Four uncapped players for friendlies

John Joe Patrick Finn is a 21-year-old midfielder. Born in Madrid, he has a Galway father and grandparents from Mayo. Having spent time in the Real Madrid academy, he joined the Getafe academy in 2018 and made his La Liga debut aged 17 in December 2020.

In October 2021, he made his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s in a 2-2 draw with Sweden.

In January 2025, the 6ft 4ins midfielder joined French side Reims and made his debut against Paris St-Germain. He has made 12 Ligue 1 appearances.

Josh Keeley, another 21-year-old, started his professional career with St Patrick’s Athletic in Dublin before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2022.

After a loan spell at Barnet, he joined Leyton Orient on loan at the start of the 2024-25 season and has been impressive, helping the club earn a spot in the League One play-offs.

In November, Keeley made headlines when he scored a dramatic late equaliser against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup second round. A regular with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s over the past couple of years, he is now poised to make his senior international debut.

“He’s young, has been progressing really fast this season,” said Hallgrimsson.

“He’s taken huge steps and is playing in the play-offs, hopefully they get promoted so he can get to the next level.

“Our goalkeeper coach has been analysing and it gives us an option for Gav [Gavin Bazunu] to have a holiday.”
