Uruguay reiterates rejection of US iImntervention in Venezuela

In a televised address, the president stated that his nation maintains a long-standing position that includes non-intervention in the internal affairs of other states, and even less so, interference by force, he emphasized. He also stressed the peaceful resolution of disputes, the right to sovereign equality among nations, and the defense of international law.

He said that to these long-standing principles of Uruguayan foreign policy, his government adds the permanent defense of coexistence and democratic life among nations.

Orsi reported that his country adheres to a common position on the US military intervention in Venezuela, shared by Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Spain, “to express our views in international forums.”

With this position, we will act within the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Organization of American States, and other forums to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict, the Uruguayan president stated.

‘I’m here to be manager, not coach’ – Ruben Amorim challenges Man Utd chiefs but plans to leave in 18 months

Ruben Amorim has challenged his Manchester United bosses to let him do his job without interference.

After hinting on Friday at issues behind the scenes, Amorim waited until the final question of his post-match media conference after the 1-1 draw at Leeds United to make another significant point.

In the process, he indicated he had been the subject of unwanted internal interference from senior United figures and that the club had become too sensitive to outside criticism.

He also brought up the names of three high-profile former Premier League bosses and suggested they would not be subjected to the same behaviour.

Amorim repeatedly said that in 18 months’ time, when his contract is due to end, he will leave the club.

“I just want to say I came here to be the manager, not to be the coach,” he said.

“In every department – the scouting department, the sporting director – [they] need to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on.

“I just want to say that I’m going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. I was really clear on that. That is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on. That was the deal. That is my job. Not to be a coach.

“If people cannot handle the Gary Nevilles and the criticisms of everything, we need to change the club.”

Chinese academician warns of US intentions in Venezuela

Sun Yanfeng, director of the Institute of Latin American Studies at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, stated that Washington “once again placed its domestic law above international law.”

In this regard, he told The Paper that the United States justified the action with accusations of drug trafficking based on domestic laws and its own court orders, without presenting verifiable evidence.

The expert emphasized that the principle of sovereign equality of states and non-interference prohibit the extraterritorial application of national legislation against heads of state.

Sun remembered a similar action in 1989, when the United States invaded Panama and captured its leader on drug trafficking charges, which he described as a dangerous precedent.

According to the analyst, beyond the rhetoric surrounding drug trafficking, the operation serves Washington’s strategic objectives, including weakening Venezuela as a regional actor opposed to the United States and with close ties to China and Russia.

The expert considered this the first direct US intervention in Latin America in the 21st century, occurring after the recent adoption of the new US security strategy.

  • ‘When has it ever been this bad?’ – Luke McCowan laments Celtic form after loss to Rangers

‘When has it ever been this bad?’ – Luke McCowan laments Celtic form after loss to Rangers

And he added: “It’s not nice. I’ll tell you that as a player’s perspective. It doesn’t leave you. It haunts you every minute of every day when you’re not winning.

“Getting home, not speaking to anybody, sitting on the couch, not moving, just doing that black screen instead of having the darts or having the football highlights on.

“But, as I said, that is what it comes with playing with Celtic. You need to take that pressure on. You need to get there. You need to show personality and at times within games, we’ve not done that good enough.

“Within the structure, we’ve not done it good enough. But that’s just the kind of rubbish message just now. We need to stick together and keep going.”

It was the second time in a matter of weeks that Celtic led by one at the break but ended up losing after a similar defeat away to Dundee United.

“Rangers changed their shape and we didn’t react well enough to it,” admitted McCowan.

“We just aren’t reacting to it as well as we should be. It’s just not good enough.

“I’m probably going to say that at least 20 times in these interviews, but it needs to be better.

“Rangers can’t be coming here and winning 3-1. It’s just not good enough.”

Zimbabwe joins Cuba decryig US aggression against Venezuela

The leading television network broadcast the statement from the Revolutionary Government, which strongly condemned the criminal violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

ZBC highlighted Havana’s support for Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and its emphatic demand for the immediate release by US authorities of the president and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The statement describes the escalation in the sustained war campaign that the United States has been waging for years against that nation, intensified since September with the aggressive naval deployment in the Caribbean Sea under unfounded pretenses and accusations.

The text indicated that the Revolutionary Government accused Washington of seeking control of Venezuela’s natural resources in “a flagrant imperialist and fascist aggression aimed at domination, intended to revive US hegemonic ambitions over Our America, rooted in the Monroe Doctrine.”

Cuba also asserted that the objectives included unrestricted access to Venezuela’s natural resources and the intimidation of the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean.

These actions undermine regional peace commitments, recalling that the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean unanimously signed in January 2014 the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

The 21-year-old Japan international is seeking regular game time having shown her potential at Chelsea since joining in 2023.

Hamano can play in a number of positions in midfield and attack but is largely used as a winger by Japan.

  • Hamilton Academical: Haverfordwest County owner completes takeover

Hamilton Academical: Haverfordwest County owner completes takeover

MSM, a sports-focused investment and management group, took over Haverfordwest in 2020, since when they have competed in European competition twice in the last three seasons.

It also owns Ohio Valley Wrestling, an American professional wrestling promotion based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Owner Rob Edwards has been appointed to Hamilton’s board along with Neil Blankstone, “a senior investment manager”, and Allan Currie, “a former head of inward investment in Scotland”, who will be interim chairman.

“This move marks a new and exciting chapter for Hamilton Academical Football Club,” the club stated.

“The incoming board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Seref Zengin, the club SLO, and the Accies Supporters Association for their support during the bid to takeover.”

They also thanked “players and staff who have all continued their work to the best of their ability even in trying and uncertain times”.

Hamilton have promised further board and staff appointments.

With John Rankin having stood down as manager recently amid their financial problems, Darian MacKinnon is in caretaker charge of a team who would be third top instead of third bottom had they not incurred a points deduction.

Accies Supporters Association has welcomed the takeover, with which it played a part.

“Rob is under no illusions that the club has been through a horrendous period in its 151-year history and the difficult challenges that lie ahead,” it stated.

“We firmly believe that our club will have people in charge who will do everything they can to turn things around.”

Neither the new owner, nor the supporters assocation, has made mention of the future plans over the club’s home, having move to Broadwood Stadium, 15 miles away in Cumbernauld, this summer following a dispute with Hamilton Community Stadium.
